Tan-Through Bikinis. An Investigation.

Bare Swim Separates ^

It’s summer 2023, which means ur phone is lighting up with ads and sponsored posts of “tan through bikinis”.

Maybe you’ve even googled them. From an initial search, you find that there are 3 major players in this space (brands). Bare Swim, Better Tan and Kiniki.

Kiniki mostly sells on Amazon, but reviews say suits chafe and don’t deliver on promises.

So 2 princes left, Bare Swim and Better Tan. Better Tan is responsible for the bulk of tiktok ads/sponsored posts making the rounds right now. With great exposure though, comes great risk. The increased visibility of Better Tan has been their swift downfall; Tiktok is a platform for all, including dissatisfied buyers. A quick swipe shows a rash of complaints and bad reviews.

So here lies the question. There is one dame left, is she a liar too?

Bare swim has less than 300 written reviews. Reviews that strike me as… mildly sus. There are a handful of bad reviews, claiming similar issues as the other 2 brands, issues with being see through, not actually preventing tan lines. This is truly only about a dozen though, with 200+ good reviews. The good reviews however, are bit too perfect. Short, quotable lines from Madison H. about how she “cant wait to wear this all summer long” read to me as inauthentic, maybe fake maybe farmed. Lying on the internet is even easier than you think it is, especially writing fake reviews from girls with names like Bachelor Contestants.

They’re having a sale, Bare Swim I mean. Buy 2 get 1 free. You could get 2 tops and a bottom for 40 bucks. Unfortunately, I’ve already spent my fun money on a sparkly knit ALC maxi dress. But you should totally try it and let me know, remember if you do to put sunscreen everywhere tho. EVERYWHERE. Dermatologists HATE her.
